Where we operate.

Senex produces natural gas from our Roma North and Atlas developments in the Surat Basin, located near the southern Queensland regional towns of Roma and Wandoan. We also hold exploration tenure near Cracow and Theodore in Central Queensland known as Rockybar.

Our Surat Basin assets are on track to contribute 60 PJ/year of secure and reliable natural gas into the Australian east coast market by the end of 2025, an equivalent amount to meet around 40 per cent of Queensland's domestic gas requirements.

Future growth opportunities

Senex’s business strategy is to grow our role as a natural gas provider of choice, supporting Australian productivity and the energy transformation. Natural gas is essential for life; it is the core of our business and integral to society and Australia’s energy transition.

Our growth plan is to create a highly profitable, integrated natural gas business, diversified along the natural gas value chain. This includes increasing natural gas production to 60PJ by the end of 2025 to provide material volumes to the domestic market and ensure ongoing Australian productivity and energy security. By the end of 2027, our aspiration is to further double gas production to 120PJ.

Growth opportunities will be assessed against our guiding principles of capability and shareholder alignment, value creation potential, diversification and risk management. Our key levers for growth include:

  • a focus on realising opportunities across the domestic natural gas value chain
  • supporting Australia’s role in global electrification and decarbonisation through the provision of natural gas as a cleaner and lower emissions alternative to coal fired power
  • providing gas to international customers supporting global efforts to achieve net-zero
