Reason to smile: Senex partnership delivers essential dental services for regional Queenslanders

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) (Queensland Section) welcomes an additional $300,000 over the next three years from Senex Energy to help fund more Mobile Dental Services across Wandoan and Theodore.

Senex Energy has been a long-time supporter of the RFDS, investing more than a million dollars over the past decade into vital medical services, and earlier this year, expanding its commitment to mobile dentistry by a further grant of $30,000 to enable additional clinic days in Theodore.

The extra funding will provide a further 36 clinic days across both locations each year, ensuring hundreds more patients can be seen by the RFDS’s highly skilled dental teams.

Senex Chief Executive Officer Ian Davies said this long-term agreement provides important additional funding to a service that proudly supports Senex’s communities of operation.

“Senex has a long and proud history of keeping the Flying Doctor in the air and in this case, on the ground where they’re needed most,” Mr Davies said.

“When you live in rural communities, getting to the dentist can be difficult. RFDS’s mobile service saves locals needing to travel long distances to get high quality specialist oral care or putting this important service off altogether.

“Senex is proud to continue our relationship with the Flying Doctor by sponsoring this free dental clinic delivering positive health outcomes in the Theodore and Wandoan regions.”

Since launching more than a decade ago, the RFDS Mobile Dental Clinics have delivered over 120,000 treatments to 26 Queensland communities.

RFDS (Queensland Section) Chief Executive Officer Meredith Staib said the continuing support of Senex Energy is another important component of the RFDS’s commitment to provide the finest care to the furthest corner.

“This generous three-year partnership with Senex Energy will help us make a real difference to the oral health of hundreds of regional Queenslanders,” Ms Staib said.

“The RFDS remains committed to ensuring equality of healthcare across the state and the support of organisations such as Senex is helping us achieve that.

“We know how important improved oral health outcomes are to ensuring better overarching physical and mental health and we look forward to being able to expand the reach of our Mobile Dental Service for years to come.”
