Senex dives in with a $500,000 investment in Roma community pool

Senex Energy is making a splash in the Maranoa town of Roma committing $500,000 to the once-in-a-generation redevelopment of the Denise Spencer Aquatic Centre.

The investment highlights Senex’s long-term commitment to the Maranoa and its enduring relationship with the Maranoa Regional Council to deliver much needed infrastructure for the town.

Scheduled for delivery in late 2026, the new Aquatic Centre will feature a 50-metre outdoor heated pool, a 25-metre indoor program pool for lessons and therapy, a vibrant water play area for young families, swim club facilities and fully accessible amenities.

Senex Energy CEO Darren Stevenson said the investment reflected Senex’s commitment to building strong and vibrant regional communities in its areas of operation.

“Senex is a proud member of the Roma community, and this long-term investment reflects our multi-generational development in the region,” Mr Stevenson said.

“We have been here for a decade and will be here for decades to come, and we are proud to deliver an investment that will improve the vibrancy and liveability of the Maranoa.”

“This is just one-way Senex can give back to a community that has given us so much,” Mr Stevenson said.

Maranoa Regional Council Mayor Wendy Taylor welcomed Senex Energy’s contribution as part of the broader investment in the state-of-the-art facility.

“Senex’s support is a welcome contribution toward delivering an aquatic centre that will provide lasting benefits to the region,” Mayor Taylor said.

“Regional pools are more than just sporting facilities. This aquatic centre will become the heartbeat of the Maranoa, delivering lifesaving swim skills, fostering community connections and improving the health of locals.”

Maranoa Regional Council Deputy Mayor Cameron O’Neil reiterated the importance of the project for the growth of Roma and the Maranoa.

“This redevelopment will bring opportunities for regional competitions and aquatic events, delivering a legacy for future generations,” he said.

“I know Senex is committed to the liveability of the community where they operate, and this investment will certainly enhance that for the entire region.”

Roma local and proud member of the Roma Allstars Swim Club, 15-year-old, Charlie Johnson said he was excited for him and his teammates to access to the new facility.

“The new development will encourage more people to join the Roma Allstars and bring the community together to have fun with friends and learn important swimming skills.”

This project is also being supported by a $9.5 million commitment from the Australian Government’s Growing Regions Program.
